🦖 DinoFest Brisbane 2026: Roaring Fun for the Whole Family

If your little (or big) ones are obsessed with dinosaurs, or you're simply looking for an exciting family day out in Brisbane, DinoFest at Kalinga Park in Clayfield is guaranteed to be an awesome time! It's a 90-minute session packed with towering life-sized dinosaurs, interactive experiences, hands-on activities and plenty of prehistoric fun. This family-friendly event brings the Jurassic world to life right in the heart of Brisbane.

Giant Dinosaurs Come to Life

Narrated by the live "Dino Ranger", you'll learn fascinating facts about dinosaurs as they make their way across the grassy area straight towards you. They look incredible, and what I particularly loved was that the sessions aren't overcrowded, so everyone gets a front-row seat!

Even as an adult, I was patting and giving belly scratches to the baby dinosaurs—haha! The kids were having an absolute blast. There was nothing but squeals, roaring and laughter. I was actually surprised that not a single child started crying. Everyone was completely hyped up and excited!

The dinosaur encounter was definitely the highlight, with realistic sound effects, cheeky dinosaur antics and a bad joke or two from our Dino Ranger.

Activities for Kids

• Dino Dig — Unearth and touch dinosaur fossils as you become a junior palaeontologist.
• Dino Trail — Explore life-sized dinosaurs that roar, move and tower above you.
• Dinosaur Tattoos — Pick your favourite dinosaur-themed temporary tattoo to take home.
• Feel-a-Fossil — Get hands-on with replica fossils while learning how they're formed.
• Meet the Dino Rangers — Chat with the friendly Dino Rangers and learn fascinating dinosaur facts.

Food, Merchandise and Extras

There was only an ice cream truck on site, so I'd recommend bringing plenty of drinks and snacks for your little adventurers. Kalinga Park is a beautiful spot for a picnic, so packing a delicious lunch to enjoy afterwards is a great way to keep the day budget-friendly.

Fun dinosaur merchandise is available to purchase at DinoFest, and there's also a first aid tent nearby with water and sunscreen if needed. I highly recommend bringing insect repellent—I was swatting mozzies left, right and centre while watching the dinosaurs! Most importantly, make sure your phone is fully charged because you'll be taking plenty of roarsome photos.

Is DinoFest Worth Visiting?

I genuinely enjoyed DinoFest as an adult while attending with my support worker, and the children looked like they were having the time of their lives.

I also thought it offered great value for money. Ticket prices are reasonable, Companion Card holders receive a free ticket for their support person, parking is free, and you can easily pack a picnic to help keep costs down. The entertainment was fantastic, but what stood out most was the atmosphere. Being surrounded by so much excitement, laughter and pure joy was incredibly wholesome. What's not to love about that?

🧑‍🦽 Wheelchair Access

The event is held on predominantly flat grass, but as it's outdoors, terrain can vary. There is a fairly steep hill leading to the toilets. They can also be reached via a concrete pathway, although it's a slightly longer route.

🚗 Parking & Transport

Free parking is available, including accessible parking. I'd recommend arriving early on weekends, as the park is also popular for birthday parties and picnics unrelated to DinoFest.

As a daytime, family-friendly event, we felt safe and comfortable throughout our visit.

🐾 Pet Policy

Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs are welcome. Pet dogs are not permitted, which is understandable given they could easily be startled by the dinosaurs!

There are plenty of peaceful spots throughout Kalinga Park if you need a break from the crowds.

Only an ice cream truck was available during our visit, so bringing your own food and drinks is a great budget-friendly option.

👥 Crowds

The crowd size was just right. This is something DinoFest did exceptionally well. Personally, I find overly crowded events overwhelming, but this session gave everyone enough space to comfortably enjoy every activity without feeling rushed or cramped. I loved that.
