Strathpine Bowl

Image
Bowling is not just a game; it’s a social experience, a delightful outing, and a chance to engage in light exercise. For individuals with disabilities and their support workers, bowling presents an inclusive environment where everyone can participate and enjoy themselves. The ambiance is relaxed, and the rules are simple. You don’t need to be a pro to have a great time. With its casual setting, bowling allows you to engage without the pressures found in some other activities. Bowling is also very affordable compared to other recreational activities too. Strathpine Bowl offers discounted games for people with disabilities and their support person - just $6 per game each! This is a fantastic deal. I found it so reasonable, I paid for my support worker so I had someone to play against. Bowling venues have made significant strides to ensure all individuals can enjoy the game. Strathpine Bowl includes wheelchair access to the lanes, special bowling ramps to help direct your ball, bumper bo...

Bounce

Image
Exercise that I found actually fun, and it's for any level of fitness! Bounce has a range of trampolines for a casual bounce or if you have some sick tricks you want to try on "The Wall". There was also an X-Park at our venue for thrill seekers wanting a challenge. There was a great play area for the little kids in the miniBOUNCE zone, as well as catering for adults on the huge amount of large trampolines. We spent most of our time on a large trampoline, then we braved a wall climb! Both my support worker and I tried it - OMG! Never again, hahaha. It was exhilarating though (and I am scared of heights). I was so proud of myself and my support worker. I climbed the one on the left at the front and she climbed the front right one. Afterward, our endorphins and adrenaline were off the charts, and we couldn’t stop smiling! It had a lovely place to sit and purchase a coffee or food for some relaxation. We had a meeting with my support co-ordinator there after our bounce,...

White Ridge Farm

Image
Looking for a day to connect with nature and animals? White Ridge Farm offers just that. If you're after some adventure, fun, and a chance to meet friendly animals to pet, this is a lovely farm experience. The farm has a camel, llamas, cows, goats, chickens, piglets and more! It even has a tractor and train ride, and a 9 hole putt putt course included with your ticket price. I bought feed as well (for a small fee) so I could spoil all the animals I could, and get lots of pats. The camel felt so gross, slobbery and wet, but I think it was my favourite! It made me laugh a lot. There are places to wash your hands too just so you know, which is great. The farm features an outdoor play area and picnic tables - perfect for a BYO lunch break between animal encounters. If you prefer, you can also grab snacks, drinks, or ice cream from the on-site café. In summary, I think the farm is a sweet place, especially for kids and reasonably priced. Get the most out of your ticket and enjoy ev...

Red Lock Escape Rooms

Image
Love puzzles and looking for a challenge?! Red Lock Escape Rooms are so freaking awesome! They are located on the Sunshine Coast and at North Lakes. We went to the North Lakes one. Each escape room can be played with two - six players and you need to find clues and solve the puzzles in order to escape. They have five cool rooms to choose from and two new ones coming soon. The Wizard's Apprentice, Area 52, The Lost Jungle Gemstone, Game of Stones and Aunt Annie's Asylum are going at the moment. We chose the scariest looking room, the Asylum! Our room had a mix of locks and tech and is recommended for those 12yo and over. There are some creepy parts and jump scares! We excitedly searched for keys, racing against the clock and trying to solve the clues. Then getting so elated as we solved something, and got to keep going. Each room has a difficulty rating as well, so you can choose your experience depending on who you go with and how many players. The staff member we had was so ...

Queensland Ballet

Image
On my bucket list was always to see my first ballet. With support now, I was really excited and determined to go and do it! I decided to treat myself for a Christmas present to see The Nutcracker at QPAC's Playhouse, which is in December annually. We had a delicious cheese board and a beverage beforehand, as we waited with anticipation for the performance. It's always a nice opportunity to dress a little fancier than usual too! The choreography was so beautiful that I found myself holding back tears. I felt incredibly lucky and grateful to be there. The costumes, sets, and dancing were just phenomenal. The performance lasted two hours, with a short interval, and I was engrossed the entire time. It's not something I can afford to do often, but for a special occasion, birthday or Christmas treat it was well worth it. That they accept Companion Card which gave my support worker free entry, is spectacular! I definitely want to see another at some point, or maybe a play next ...
