🌿 About Clancestry Clancestry is one of Brisbane's most vibrant celebrations of First Nations arts, culture and storytelling, bringing together performances, workshops, exhibitions and community experiences across the festival. This year, it runs from 30 July to 8 August 2026 at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in South Brisbane. We spent the day exploring the GATHAA First Nations Markets, meeting talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists and makers before taking part in some of the festival's fantastic free creative workshops. It was a relaxed and welcoming day filled with opportunities to learn, create and support Indigenous-owned businesses, making it a wonderful outing for people of all ages and abilities. Yesterday I had the chance to try something new - diving into the world of candle making at Genki Arts & Crafts hosted by Wick and Sip ! The room was filled with the soft scent of melted wax and essential oils, and I quickly discovered that creating a candle is just as calming as lighting one. From choosing fragrances to pouring the wax into the glass, the whole experience felt creative and relaxing - and I left with not only a few handmade candles, but also a new appreciation for the craft. The class was a little further away than our usual outings, but we timed it perfectly - the traffic was smooth and the drive was peaceful. Located in Upper Coomera, the trip took us past Dreamworld and then inland, where we enjoyed stunning views of mountains and lush green paddocks. Finding the studio was easy (with a little GPS help of course - haha) and parking was conveniently right behind the building. We were warmly welcomed by our teacher into a bright, spacious and spotless studio....

I decided we just had to go and take a day trip to check out the Kalbar Sunflower Festival last weekend. With some planning, I was ready to embark on a bigger adventure than our usual close attractions. Wow! What a beautiful day we had! Despite the long drive, it was incredibly worth it. Anticipation and Arrival As soon as we spotted the sunflowers from a distance, I was so excited! Wow! The Beauty of Sunflowers My highlights of the day included the stunning beauty of the sunflowers. We were busy capturing photos around the farm, and two hours flew by like nothing. They even had adorable mini photo shoot setups amongst the flowers! I only took photos with my iPhone, but I can only imagine how beautiful they could look if you love photography as a hobby. There was plenty to do and see at the festival.
