Plaster Fun House

Image
A budget-friendly art day with so much choice in creativity, count me in! We visited the Plaster Fun House and had so much fun. The hardest part was choosing what to paint. There were holiday themes, cute movie characters, and even super nerdy options—I loved that! There were so many Star Wars choices, too. You can browse some of the awesome pieces on offer here . It might make it a bit easier for you when you get there. All you have to do is book online your painting session for free and then choose what you'd like to paint on the day. The prices are really good and you can get the colours you'd like to use from the wonderful staff at the counter. They provide the paints, water pot, aprons and brushes for you. Prices start from $5 to around $30 for larger pieces, which I think is excellent. You can add extras like glitter and glaze for free. You can also add cool accessories like googly eyes for great prices, to perfect your masterpiece. There is a fantastic range of acces...

Concerts by Candlelight

Image
One of the most beautiful performances I've witnessed was a string quartet, surrounded by candles in a huge cathedral. Hosted by feverup in the Uniting Church on Albert St Brisbane, they perform quite a range of concerts suiting your musical tastes. I decided to go to the 90's unplugged concert and it was EPIC! My favourite was 'Zombie' by The Cranberries - it gave me goosebumps! 'Under the Bridge' by Red Hot Chili Peppers was surprisingly pretty, and 'Smells like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana was insanely good. The backdrop of all the candles was so beautiful and really added to the ambience of the concert. You can take pictures in front of the candles afterwards, buy yourself a CD or even a pack of the beautiful candles to take home. I would definitely love to come back for a different setlist and next time in the cooler months. It was very hot in the cathedral even at night time and in the summer. Luckily, the candles aren't real. It would have bee...

Tom's Confectionery Warehouse

A fun place to go and have a look around is this huge candy land. Full of lots of weird and wonderful confectionery. I really wanted to go just to try some of the overseas candy they have. I have online friends from all different countries, and I was keen to see what the fuss is about with Jolly Ranchers or Candy Corn. There's also lots of old Aussie favourites you don't get to see anymore! From the most sour drinks to the World's Hottest Corn Chips. They even sell Kool-Aid. We actually went there a second time just recently, to check out the newly installed human claw! You can pay to try and scoop up as much candy as you can. They have one of the biggest pick n mix selections I have ever seen. They also sell bulk bags of lollies which are perfect if you're having a party any time soon. I came home with a variety of things to try. I do not recommend the Warhead pickle haha! The Warhead jelly beans were actually delicious and the sour soda was too. Go treat yourself and...

Hudsons Circus

This circus is a real treat! So many awesome, entertaining acts that kept my eyes glued to the action. They are always travelling, so you need to keep your eye on their website for a show near you. We drove up to the Sunshine Coast for our show which was a nice drive. It is a two hour show with a short intermission and the time went so fast. They of course had silly clowns which the kids laughed at, screamed and loved, but there was lots for the adults too. I really enjoyed the aerialists. They are so talented, poised and strong! Their performance was beautiful. Another big highlight for me was the camels and dogs. The camels moving in sync was so freaking cool. The dogs were so clever and looked like they were having so much fun. Their tails wagging madly as they did tricks and caught frisbees. Sorry it was hard for me to get a decent pic with their zoomies haha. Lastly omg the Globe of Death or I think Ball of Death it can be called, with the motorbikes in it. My face was just this ...

Eat St Northshore

This is a place you need to go more than once! The food choices are epic and plentiful and everything looks delicious. I would put this in the under $20 category, but it is very hard to keep to a budget here. There are so many varieties of food from all over the world. So many choices. They also have free entertainment on stage you can enjoy, whilst you devour your feast. How cool. Once we finally decided on what we would like for dinner, we sat by the river to get out of the crowds. There is definitely a lot of people in attendance here, if you hate crowds. In saying that, we found our own quiet spot so it felt less overwhelming. It was really peaceful and beautiful just looking over the river whilst we ate. The atmosphere was vibrant and bustling, filled with a kaleidoscope of colours and sounds that oddly drew me in, instead of making me want to run! It felt like it was the place to be with all the excitement about. It was a very cheerful vibe with everyone seeming to enjo...
